Hi all! We are Natalie and Leanne, current Y13 students who have just completed our veterinary medicine application cycle in the UK and HK. We would be hosting a 3-session workshop for Y11-12 students interested in applying for veterinary medicine for University or other relevant animal science fields.
Our workshop would consist of an introductory session, a mock veterinary interview session (MMI + Group Activity), and a debrief/feedback session afterwards. All sessions will commence in a span of 2 weeks, and no prior preparation is required.
- The MMI and Group Activity would be conducted with similar interview question styles from RVC, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Surrey, and Liverpool.
Through this workshop, you can get a better understanding of the veterinary application process in the UK and HK, personal statement tips, and interview experience. Most importantly, what you can do now to ensure that you are what applicant universities are looking for!
We would only be able to accommodate 10 students for this workshop, and priority would be given to Y12 applicants and/or those with a high commitment to the subject. Deadline for the interest form is 23/2, hope to see you at our workshop!
Please sign up here!

Actually, there is. We’ll show you. But more importantly, we’ll find it together.
If you’ve ever looked at a maths problem and felt that spark of curiosity—or if you just love the "Aha!" moment when a tricky puzzle finally clicks—you’ve found your people.
Welcome to the Maths Olympiad Club, a brand-new space where curiosity counts more than being "fast," and where every question is a new adventure.
Why You’ll Love It Here
Share the Magic: At the start of each session, we will be sharing a favourite brain-teaser or a beautiful problem. It's like a show-and-tell for your brain!
Better Together: You won’t be stuck at a desk alone. We work in small, friendly groups to chat through ideas, try different paths, and celebrate every breakthrough.
Grow Your Confidence: Once a month, we’ll host a "Low-Stress Mock" session. Think of it as a cosy rehearsal to help you feel calm, capable, and ready for the real deal.
A New Home for Thinkers: Whether you’re a maths pro or just someone who loves a good challenge, you are so welcome here.

Call for Submissions: Processing the World: Shared Space, Different Realities
What is your reality?
We all live in the same world, attend the same classes, and walk the same hallways. That's the Shared Space. But how you experience that space—the sounds you hear, the colors you see, the thoughts that rush through your mind—is completely unique to you. That's your Different Reality.
This year's art exhibition invites you to explore the fascinating, complex, and often beautiful difference in how neurodivergent brains (like those with Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Tourette's, and others) process the world.
What We're Looking For
We want your art to be a window into how your brain works or feels. This is a chance to visualize the invisible. Your artwork could explore:
Sensory Experience: How does light, sound, texture, or noise feel amplified, confusing, or hyper-focused? How do you create calm from sensory overload?
Thought Patterns: What does focus look like? What does mind-wandering or hyper-fixation feel like? Can you paint a pattern of complex thinking?
Communication & Connection: What does it feel like to try and express an idea when the words won't come out right? How do you connect with others when your social rules are different?
Identity & Masking: How do you show up in the shared space (the school, the public) versus how you feel inside? What does it feel like to be authentic?
Your Challenge
Use any medium—drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, digital art—to translate your unique reality into a visual language. Show us the beauty, the challenge, the strength, or the distinct logic of a neurodivergent mind.
Let your art show others what it truly means to be processing the world through your unique lens. We look forward to seeing the different realities you create!
Artist Statement: A short piece of text (minimum 50 words, maximum 150 words) that explains:
What your special interest is.
How this art piece captures processing the world.
What technical/artistic choices you made to represent your unique perspective.
Call for Photography Submissions: The Focus You Feel
What is a "Special Interest?"
Every single person has things they like, but for some of us, that interest becomes something more—a special interest. This is the subject you can dive into for hours, the detail you notice that everyone else misses, the topic that brings clarity and intense focus to the world. For many who are neurodivergent (like those with Autism or ADHD), these special interests aren't just hobbies; they are vital ways the brain connects, processes, and makes sense of the world.
The Focus You Feel: Translating Interest into Light
This exhibition challenges you to use the lens of your camera to capture your special interest. Photography is about focusing the world into a single frame, and we want to see what happens when you combine the intense focus of your mind with the physical focus of a lens.
How does your special interest feel? Is it calming, chaotic, thrilling, or highly detailed?
What does your unique perspective reveal about your chosen subject—whether it's historical fashion, the intricate engineering of a bicycle, patterns in nature, or the movement of a pet?
We are looking for powerful photographs that demonstrate the depth and precision that your focused interest brings to your vision. Don't just show us the subject; show us the feeling of hyper-focus itself.
Submission Challenge
Use your camera to translate your deepest interest into light and shadow. Show us your world, seen through your own, intensely focused lens.

ESF ART EXHIBITION - ‘TOMORROW’
The theme of the show this year is ’Tomorrow.’
This is a unique word in language, as it describes something that can never exist. With the dawning of each new day, tomorrow moves away from us again. It is a word that represents a future state, something to look ahead to, to wonder about and to stimulate our dreams.
In this exhibition, we are looking for students to imagine the future. It could be their own, it could be the future of our planet, or it could be a glimpse into the world of science fiction: what will technology look like in hundreds of years? How will we live? What will we be doing?
The only pre-requisite is the pieces should not be about the here and now. We are looking for the students to look ahead to the future, to think about what comes next. To think about tomorrow.
Deadline for Artwork: Monday May 4th - 3:20pm
Where to Submit: The artworks should be submitted to either Ms P, Mr Gadbury (Primary Art Rooms or Mr Deakin (Room 411 - secondary)
Details: RC is permitted to showcase only 16 artworks. The Visual Art department will select artworks which represent all year groups and are deemed to represent the theme of ‘tomorrow’, if more than 16 artworks are submitted.
Event Details:
Art Exhibition Period: June 17 to 21 (Free admission, open to the public)
Theme: Tomorrow
Time: 10 AM – 7 PM (Daily), 10 AM - 4 PM (June 21)
Venue: Exhibition Hall, 1/F, Low Block, Hong Kong City Hall (5 Edinburgh Place, Central, Hong Kong)

Each year, about 25 winners receive prizes including financial prizes, Ocean Park tickets, membership to the RGS-HK, and their photos being exhibited through the Royal Geographical Society - amongst others.
Our judges are an international panel; include renowned architects and esteemed photographers; are recognised by awards and publications; and feature stellar pedigrees.
During the prize-giving ceremony this year, the students (and their parents) shared with us how excited they were to have won their awards, and to impress these experts. All the winning entries are viewable on the website.
This year, the competition’s format remains the same: a visual (photograph, map, sketch or infographic, collage) accompanied by a brief written explanation that demonstrates knowledge and application of geographical concepts that connect to the competition’s themes.
Each student can enter one submission for each of the following themes:
Nature: the uniqueness of the natural environment and species of Hong Kong
People & Culture: the character of Hong Kong people & their ideas, customs or behaviour
Urbanscape: the unique signatures of Hong Kong's built environment
Critical Eye: the socio-economic or environmental issues that matter in Hong Kong
The winning entries are going to be displayed in a Hong Kong Young Geographer of the Year exhibition and there is going be a prize giving ceremony for the winners open to Members, with the awards comprising financial prizes and RGS-HK student benefits.
If you have any enquiries, please send an email to education@rgshk.org.hk for more information.
Note: This is an external competition.

Dear parents and guardians,
With Season 1 now drawing to a close we are excited to announce that Season 2 is about to begin.
The sports on offer are basketball, tag rugby and cross-country. Inter-school competitions are planned for each sport and offer a fantastic opportunity for students to test their skills, both individually and as a team, against others.
Trials will be held as there is a limitation on the number of students that can be part of each team, due to venue size and staffing. The tryouts will take place during the week of December 1 with those selected invited to start training the week beginning 12 January.
Please speak to your child before signing them up for a tryout to make sure that they understand the commitment required if they are selected for a team. Please note that signing up for a tryout does not mean that your child has been accepted into a team for the whole season.
After all trials have been completed parents will be notified via email to let them know whether or not their child has been successful in securing a place on their chosen team/s. If they have been successful, further permission for the season will be required before the first training session.
Season 2 (12 January – 20 March)
Tag Rugby
Mixed team (girls and boys) – Trial on Tuesday, 2 December on the MPP from 3:15pm to 4:15pm.
Please meet outside the uniform shop. Students will be dismissed from the uniform shop after training.
Cross-Country
Mixed team (girls and boys) – Trial on Wednesday, 3 December from 3:15pm to 4:15pm at the promenade. Students are to meet in front of the PAC at 3:15pm and will be dismissed from there at 4:15pm.
For students born before 1 August, 2015 they will need to be able to run 2km in less than 14 minutes and for students born on or after 1 August, 2015 they will need to be able to run 3km in under 20 minutes to be considered for the team.
We suggest having a practice run before the try outs to see if your child is able to achieve this. There is a morning Run Club in the secondary gym every Tuesday morning from 7:50am to 8:15am which is open to everyone in Y3-6. Your child is welcome to attend this practice.
Basketball
Mixed team (girls and boys) - Trial on Thursday, 4 December in the Secondary Gym from 3:15pm to 4:15pm.
Please note the arrangements for Season 2 basketball as a follow on from Season 1 pre-season:
Season 1 Trialists/Squad members: Invited to Season 2 trial on a case by case basis via email on Friday, 21 November;
New Trialists (Non Season 1 Trialists/Squad members): Please sign up on the Season 2 Google Form attached below.
Students are to meet inside the primary gym at 3:15pm and they will be dismissed from the secondary gym at 4:15pm.
If selected training will be on the same day and time as trials.
Please sign up for season 2 tryouts here. The deadline for sign up is Wednesday, 26 November.
No acknowledgement will be given of submission or reminders sent by the school in the lead up to trials. It will be your responsibility to ensure that your child arrives at their chosen trial/s with the correct equipment and on time.
As always, all important information can be found on Primary Black Kites.
Thank you for your continued support of the programme.
Kindest regards,
Mr Smart
